Hall of Fame welcomes Metallica

The heavy metal group who succeeded in the early 80s - will be honored in April 09 alongside former Yard birds guitarist Jeff Beck and hip-hop pioneers Run DMC.

This year's ceremony marks 25 years of the Hall of Fame and sees it return to its home city for the first time in more than 10 years.

The band, whose only remaining original member is frontman Axl Rose, have not released any new material since 'Use Your Illusion' I and II in 1991.

Despite this, the release of the new album "Chinese Democracy" is sure to generate huge interest as fans discover for themselves what Rose has been toiling over.
