Gerry & The Pacemakers rivalled the Beatles early in their career, playing in the same areas of Hamburg, Germany and Liverpool, England.
Thier first hit in early 1963 "How Do You Do It?", a Mitch Murray written song that both Adam Faith and the Beatles had turned down , was a smashing hit and reached No.1 in the charts.
But specially they are now best known for their version of "You'll Never Walk Alone," which has become the anthem for Liverpool Football Club in England.
Liverpool's fans sing along to the song before every match at Anfield, their home stadium.

This is a fantastic song. I have loved it since I was very young. I do remember Elvis singing it also, but I really like the version that Morrissey used in the 1990 video collection Hulmerist. It was a woman singing it. If you know where I could find this particular version or who sang it I would appreciate the info. You have a great blog though, very enjoyable.
